As the January launch of the OnePlus 13 approaches, the company is tackling a significant issue faced by all smartphone manufacturers—the persistent green-line problem in displays. This issue, which has occasionally appeared on OnePlus phones, is being mitigated through advanced technology and durability solutions. To provide users with peace of mind, OnePlus is also offering a free lifetime warranty on displays, including the OnePlus 13.

OnePlus refers to its initiative as the “OnePlus Green Line Worry-Free Solution,” which not only includes technical innovations but also post-purchase commitments for its customers.

Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, said,
“With technical solutions tailored to the Indian market, OnePlus was the first company in the sector to quickly address display hazards. As a sign of our faith in our technology and user-first philosophy, we are not only speeding up technical advancements for AMOLED screens but are also the first to provide a lifetime warranty for Indian consumers.

At a briefing in Shenzhen, China, OnePlus detailed the measures it has taken to combat the green-line issue, including changing how displays are integrated into upcoming models like the OnePlus 13 and implementing robust durability testing. These efforts also include providing a free lifetime warranty for display issues.

Tackling the Green-Line Problem

OnePlus has explained that the green-line issue in displays arises due to multiple reasons, with OLED aging being a primary factor. Ramgopal Reddy, Vice President of OnePlus India, stated:
“Compared to other places, India’s hot and muggy atmosphere might hasten the deterioration of older AMOLED screens. Last year, the industry officially recognized this as a significant problem. I’m pleased to report that OnePlus responds to such issues the quickest in the business.

New Display Layer in OnePlus 13

To slow down the aging process of OLED displays caused by moisture and oxygen seepage, OnePlus has introduced a new protective layer. A company spokesperson explained:
“The incorporation of an improved edge-bonding layer that makes use of superior PVX edge-sealing material in all OnePlus AMOLED screens is the most notable innovation.

. This PVX layer acts as a barrier, significantly slowing the ingress of moisture and oxygen over time, thereby increasing the display’s lifespan.”

Acknowledging India’s unique climate challenges, Reddy emphasized OnePlus’s commitment to ensuring its devices meet these demands. In order to guarantee durability, he continued, the business intensified its use of the exacting “Double 85 Test”. This industry-standard test involves placing devices in a chamber with 85% humidity and 85°C temperature for an extended period—beyond the usual 21 days for OnePlus 13.

While its technical advancements aim to minimize green-line issues, OnePlus recognizes that consumers seek assurance. Through its free lifetime warranty, the company promises that users—whether they own older models or plan to purchase the OnePlus 13—will be protected from display issues.
